You may have noticed that the suits of conventional playing cards correspond with those of the Minor Arcana. One may ask which came first: Were playing cards based on Tarot? Or did Tarot come after?

The answer might be found in Spain, where a deck is still used today for both solitaire and multiplayer games. One of those games is called MUS. Not surprising, this game - just as the the one which applied those original tarot decks of the 15th Century - closely resembles Bridge in structure, and might possibly be its forerunner...

The "Spanish Deck" or "Mus Deck" closely resembles both conventional playing cards and the Minor Arcana. Could this be the missing link between conventional playing cards and Tarot?
