Reviewing the Wiccan Rede and looking beyond its flowery syntax and traditions, one finds in it plain old common sense for coexistence. It ends with the most quoted portion:
At first glance, folks shopping around for an alternative religion may regard the Rede as some sort of permission to behave without abandon so long as immediate parties are not disrupted. But in truth, there is far more to those eight words than activity akin to having fun while keeping the stereo down. When any mindful activity is considered, then every possible implication has to be taken into account. An upstanding practitioner of magick does not turn away from any adverse consequence in favour of casting a spell. And with this, great care and respect for the forces of nature and fellow beings comes the machinations of spellcasting and by what means desired ends are pursued.
